Awesome news for the Battlefield fans! Battlefield 2142 (DVD version) has been added to Porting Kit and works awesome using the profile offered by battlefieldsingleplayer.com! This way you can play offline single player! Tested the game for 30 minutes without issues! Enjoy!
The year is 2142 and the dawn of a new Ice age has thrown the world into a panic. The soil not covered by ice can only feed a fraction of the Earth’s population. The math is simple and brutal: some will live, most will die. In Battlefield 2142™, players choose to fight for one of two military superpowers – the European Union or the newly formed Pan Asian Coalition -in an epic battle for survival. Armed with a devastating arsenal of hi-tech weaponry, including assault rifles, cloaking devices and sentry guns, players will also take control of the most lethal vehicles known to man.
Because online services are down, in order to play the game you need to add a profile to your documents folder. Download the profile offered by battlefieldsingleplayer.com, up here… and move the Battlefield 2142 profile folder to your documents folder. Now when you launch the game you will have the option for offline play and can play single player games and normally also multiplayer using LAN or Hamachi (not tested).
Thankfully for us, if not for EA, the elaborate release schedule for the Battlefield 2142 demo has gone to the dogs. It's now available just about everywhere; check here, here, here, here, here and here. To recap the contents, the demo is 1.08 GB and features one map, Sidi Power Plant. This is a FULL updater, which means it will take any prior version of Battlefield 2142 (that's currently installed on your system) and completely update it to v1.51 (i.e. The final version of the game). This is in contrast with the official EA v1.51 updater, which is INCREMENTAL and can only be applied to v1.50.
